Gas Ranges from Top Brands Like Samsung and GE
The kitchen is the heart of the home, and a reliable range is one of the most important pieces of your kitchen. A gas range is a great addition to any chef’s toolkit. Gas stovetops provide more fine-tuned and responsive heat control than their electric counterparts. They also provide even heating across all kinds of pots and pans. However, even after you’ve chosen to go with a gas stove, it can be hard to choose between all the additional features. We’re here to help!
How Much Space Do You Have?
The first factor to think about is how much room you have available. Make sure to measure the width of space you plan to keep your new range. The standard range size is 30 inches wide, but we also offer more compact options for kitchens with less room to spare.
Standard or Convection Oven?
Standard ovens heat your food with heating elements at the top and bottom of the oven. As the name suggests, these are the most common type of oven. They are reliable and ideal for broiling, but you will need to be more mindful of rack placement if you want your food to cook evenly. Convection ovens have similar heating elements, but they also include fans to blow heated air throughout the oven. This provides more even heating, allowing for better multi-rack cooking.
Manual Cleaning, Self-Cleaning, or Steam-Cleaning?
Manual-cleaning ovens require you to clean them yourself. This can be accomplished with a rag and some oven-cleaning solution, which can be bought at the store or mixed at home (check our range shopping guide for more information). Self-cleaning ovens can clean their own interiors with the press of a button, but they take 4-6 hours to finish the process, and they shouldn’t be left unattended during this time. Steam-cleaning ovens can clean out minor food spills with just a cup of water and the press of a button. This only takes about 30 minutes, but it is less thorough than self-cleaning ovens.
